At Leedon Residence, one of the main objectives was to create a resort-style setting for its residents. Landscape design played a crucial role in achieving this goal: more than 70 percent of the estate’s plot was reserved for landscaped areas and communal facilities. The verticals of the white granite slabs, topiary trees, and a sculpture installation by Laurence Bonnel give the main arrival area an almost commanding feel, sheltering the development from the outside world. Inside, a peaceful landscaped garden accommodates the main swimming pool, large children’s pool, two clubhouses, and various other amenities. As the primary breathing space of this large-scale development, its rectilinear layout allows for a clear view of the property’s different areas. Breaking away from the orthogonal lines of the central garden, a very different landscape is found along the site’s western border: The Forest Walk, made up of meandering footpaths running through undulating terrain, features loose planting with a more varied species palette to create a natural, textured look. Here, yoga pavilions and outdoor fitness areas installed along a cascading bio-pond offer the residents a tranquil, retreat-like experience.
